In 1986, the SCHOTE LACOTE Institute for Marine Cosmetic Research in Italy discovered a special complex of seaweeds that has an exceptionally effective effect on human metabolism (in particular on fat metabolism). The formulation was named GUAM. The GUAM complex comprises specially selected brown algae: bladderwrack, kelp and other algae. The use of the E.B.A. procedure (strictly traditional methods of drying and aeration) allows all the valuable properties of the algae to be preserved. Seaweed plasma is rich in trace elements, vitamins, proteins, fats and other valuable substances. Thanks to the similarity in structure between seaweed cells and human skin cells, the trace elements contained in GUAM seaweed easily penetrate deep into the skin during the treatment, enriching it with a genuine marine concentrate. The unique composition of GUAM seaweed enables it to combat cellulite at a cellular level, specifically at the level of alpha and beta receptors (alpha receptors are responsible for fat accumulation within the cell, whilst beta receptors are responsible for its breakdown). The active ingredients in GUAM seaweed force the sluggish beta-receptors to work at full capacity – this is one of the unique properties of GUAM seaweed.
